He is best known for his roles in “Lovecraft Country” and “Creed 3”. The arrest occurred in New York City and he was charged with assault, harassment, and strangulation. The actor allegedly had a domestic dispute with a 30-year-old woman in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood. Here’s what we know so far.
The Victim Reported the Assault This Weekend
The victim called 911 from an apartment and alleged the assault. An NYPD spokesperson said, “The victim informed police she was assaulted…The victim sustained minor injuries to her head and neck and was removed to an area hospital in stable condition.” The relationship between Majors and the accuser was described only as “domestic.”
Majors’ lawyer has maintained his client’s innocence and he has been released on his own recognizance and scheduled to appear in court on May 8th.
Majors Has Already Felt Residual Effects
The fallout from the arrest has already begun. The U.S. Army pulled an ad campaign featuring the actor, citing concerns over the allegations. Majors appeared in and narrated the Army’s “Be All You Can Be” recruitment campaign that has been heavily featured during coverage of the NCAA tournament. Laura DeFrancisco, public affairs chief for the Army said, “While Mr. Majors is innocent until proven guilty, prudence dictates that we pull our ads until the investigation into these allegations is complete.”
