Texas Cheerleaders Shot After Entering Wrong Car

-

In another incident that punctuates citizen gun use in conflicts, early Tuesday morning in Elgin, Texas, two cheerleaders were shot after one of them mistakenly entered the wrong car in a parking lot. One of the victims sustained critical injuries.

The suspect, 25-year-old Pedro Tello Rodriguez Jr., was apprehended and charged with deadly conduct, which is a third-degree felony.

According to Heather Roth, one of the cheerleaders from Woodlands Elite Cheer Co., she and three other cheerleaders had finished practice and were in a carpool lot just after midnight on Tuesday. Roth exited her friend’s car and opened the door to another car that she believed was hers. However, she discovered a man sitting in the passenger seat. Roth then left the car and returned to her friend’s vehicle. When the man approached their vehicle, Roth lowered the window to apologize, but the man began shooting.
