Police in Frisco, TX, a suburb of Dallas, made a welfare check in an apartment believed to be leased by Barber and found him deceased.

In a statement, the Cowboys stated that they were “heartbroken by the tragic death of Marion Barber III.”

Marion’s father, Marion Barber Jr. played 7 seasons in the NFL for the NY Jets. Barber III’s bruising style of running got him into the end zone a total of 53 times in his career. He was a 4th round draft pick out of Minnesota in 2005 by the Cowboys.
